Why You Can Do All the Right Things and Still Lose the Battle with Anxiety
Stop anxiety in its tracks faster than you ever thought possible with this proven method
I’m going to show you how in the next 30 days you can whip anxiety and get your life back.
But before I do, let me make one thing clear — experts agree that anxiety, in large part, is unnecessary suffering and easy to treat.
Given this, how do you explain the fact that even when you’ve tried everything you’ve been told to do – physical exercise, meditation, healthy diet, accepting and making peace with it, and even taking medication your doctor prescribes . . .
. . . your anxiety doesn’t go away?
This true story explains why:
Some years ago, a friend’s teenage daughter got really sick and had to be admitted to the hospital. After running a battery of tests, the doctors were no closer to figuring out what was wrong. So they settled on the most likely diagnosis and began treating her for what they assumed was the problem.
But instead of getting better, she got worse. So her treatment was adjusted. In fact, her treatment was changed three different times. She continued to get worse. It was clear to everyone that if the real problem wasn’t discovered soon, she would die.
As a last-ditch effort, she was transferred to a hospital in a larger city where the real source of her problem was quickly identified and properly treated. She improved almost overnight and returned home within the week. (Turns out she had Lyme Disease caused by a tick bite.)
What does this story have to do with your anxiety?
Simply this . . .
Standard approaches to treating anxiety frequently fail because the real source of the problem isn’t being identified
This means you continue to suffer even though you’re doing all the things you’ve been told to do.
I’ve devoted the last 30 years of my life to researching, writing about, and treating mental and emotional challenges. And what I’ve come to realize is that the problem with the traditional approach to treating anxiety is that it bases treatment on one or more faulty assumptions (just like what happened with my friend with Lyme Disease).
Standard treatment is based on flawed assumptions like . . .
Each of these can be easily refuted, but let’s focus in on the last one.
Traditional thought says that one reason you suffer from anxiety is because you’re resisting it. They tell you to welcome anxiety into your life and embrace it as part of your personality. This thinking says that if you do that you will make peace with your anxiety and get on with your life.
First of all, if you’ve tried this approach — passively accepting your anxiety so you can make peace with it — well, how’s that working out for you?
Granted, there’s no doubt your anxiety is inside you.
But that does not mean it is native to you.
Said another way, just because your anxiety is inside you DOES NOT MEAN IT IS PART OF WHO YOU ARE . . . any more than a flu virus that invades your body is an innate part of you as a person.
Here’s an example of what I mean —
After recently battling an upper respiratory infection for three weeks, I finally gave in and went to the doctor — not because I wanted to learn how to incorporate the virus into my system, and certainly not because I wanted to “make peace with it” — but because I wanted to get rid of it!
Let me give you another example.
It’s 3 a.m. and you are sound asleep. Suddenly you are jolted awake by a scratching noise at your kitchen door. The door creaks open. In horror, you realize that someone has just broken into your home!
What’s your first move after springing out of bed?
Naturally, you stride into the kitchen, greet the intruder, and then ask the thief to pull up a chair so you can get cozy and figure out how to come to some kind of peaceful co-existence!
OF COURSE YOU DON’T DO THAT!
Anxiety is no more a part of you than a thief who breaks into your home at 3 a.m. is part of your family!
Do you see now why traditional assumptions lead you in the wrong direction right out of the gate when they tell you to accept, embrace, and make peace with your anxiety? I sure hope so, because . . .
Understanding this is the first step in your journey to beating anxiety
So far we’ve said a good bit about what anxiety is not. But what exactly IS anxiety?
I want to say this as clearly as I possibly can so there can be no mistake, no misunderstanding:
Anxiety is an INTERNALIZED BULLY wanting to make your life a living hell
Just like a bully, anxiety victimizes, intimidates, isolates, dominates, and crushes your spirit.
It holds you hostage to its power.
And this is precisely why common approaches to treating anxiety fail: you can’t negotiate with a bully — because it’s not in the nature of a bully to make peace.
A bully only responds to power. A bully does not back down until you show up and stand up.
Anxiety — an Internalized Bully
I realize you likely haven’t heard this from your doctor or therapist.
Maybe that’s because it’s easier to adopt conventional groupthink than to reason this through. Or maybe it’s just easier to prescribe medications that mask the symptoms rather than attack the problem at its core.*
I can’t say.
But I do know this . . .
Before you can ever get rid of anxiety’s control over you, you must understand that ANXIETY IS NOT A COMPONENT OF YOUR TRUE SELF.
YOU are separate and distinct from this bully anxiety that holds you hostage — and being victimized by anxiety is not your destiny. You don’t have to put up with that!
REALIZE THIS and you can begin to back the bully down.
I want to give you something that will help you. (Do this right now if you can — it is an important step toward defeating anxiety.)
Get in a quiet place, get comfortable, and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths to quiet your mind. Then engage this simple question: In your deepest self, do you really believe the anxiety is an integral part of who you are?
Does it not honestly seem instead like an aggressive bully that has come in and taken over part of your territory?
If you actually believe your anxiety is a genuine part of your Self, then I’m not sure I can help you. Because you will have a very hard time convincing your mind to get rid of something you believe is truly part of you.
If you want that belief reinforced, I’m not your guy.
I will never tell you that you need to manage or accept pathological anxiety. I’m here to tell you something radically different.
I’m telling you that abnormal anxiety is a bully — an internalized bully that you cannot negotiate with and whose one desire is to make your life increasingly miserable.
You cannot manage or accept a bully. You have to stand up to it.
Could I ask you to take another minute now to make a promise to yourself?
If something inside is whispering to you that what I’m saying is true . . . then you owe it to yourself to lay aside defenses and judgments and excuses and allow your sound reasoning to lead you. Give yourself that chance.
See if what I’m saying here makes sense to you.
And if in the end you decide it does, then tell yourself that you are capable of beating this bully.
My suspicion is that the only reason you’re still suffering is because you’ve been unintentionally misled.
In other words, the reason nothing you’ve tried before worked is because your anxiety is not what you’ve been led to believe it is, thereby rendering your efforts to conquer it powerless.
In fact, we know your lack of success isn’t due to a lack of ability. You can beat anxiety, once you know how.
Studies show that 40 million adult Americans are affected by anxiety. And that number continues to grow.**
But what’s most interesting about this statistic is that nobody ever talks about the obvious elephant in the room . . .
If the standard approach to conquering anxiety is the solution, it follows that the number of people suffering from anxiety should be decreasing, not increasing!
To help you get off the anxiety treadmill, I’d like to tell you about my proprietary method of beating anxiety that has proven to be effective time and again in my private practice.
If you’re telling yourself it’s no use . . . that you’ve tried everything that’s out there and nothing works for you . . .
I can promise you one thing — this is not that
This proven method for beating anxiety is my own creation. It is firmly rooted in psychological science and is cognitive/behavioral in approach. Further, it is the distillation of years of study and field experience of what actually works in real situations. It has evolved from real results achieved by real people just like you.
Further, I can confidently say that this method has never before been released to the public — because it is unique to my practice.
So if you’re reading this, you are one of the first to know about this opportunity outside of my office.
Feel like your situation is hopeless?
I get it.
It’s tough to try everything you know to try and get nowhere. You naturally begin to believe nothing will work. That’s only normal.
However, I can say with certainty that you haven’t tried this method. Because as I said, I created it — and this is the first time I’ve ever shared it outside my office doors.
I can also assure you it is like nothing else out there because I’m not a follower. If I don’t have anything fresh and unique, different and effective to share with you, then you won’t hear from me.
I’ve noticed that what often happens in life, especially when it comes to our challenges, is that we get into ruts. You might say we get hypnotized by the repetition of sameness. Our brain gets lulled to sleep because nothing fresh is grabbing its attention, shaking it up and making it think differently.
But I’ve also discovered — both personally and professionally — that when you can see something familiar from a completely different angle, you gain a different perspective.
And in my experience a new perspective, a fresh take, on a common problem has proven to be the most effective (and often necessary) catalyst for solving a problem you’ve been battling a long time.
Our starting point . . . our premise . . . our foundational belief is that anxiety is alien to you.
And that is a crucial distinction.
A metaphor may be useful to show the importance of this difference:
Suppose you decide to go sailing. Your sailing skills and techniques are excellent. Your equipment, first rate. Your boat, superior. BUT, your navigational instrument is flawed. All these other factors won’t save you. You’re starting off in the wrong direction! Ultimately, you won’t end up at your desired destination.
And that is precisely your situation if you start your journey toward beating anxiety with the flawed assumption that it is part and parcel of YOU as a person!
Maybe this would be a good time to ask yourself . . .
. . . especially when — right now — I can honestly give myself
a real chance to know what life after anxiety feels like.
For the price of a casual dinner for two you can now know what it means to live free from the power of anxiety.
And it’s as easy as setting aside some time to read (or listen to) 12 guided lessons. Each lesson is strategically designed to take you step-by-step from where you are right now to a place of personal power and peace in record time.
Each lesson is simple to read, easy to understand, and can be completed in about ten minutes.
Plus, at the end of each lesson you’ll find a targeted exercise that emphasizes what to practice from that lesson to move you forward.
AND you can do it all privately, in your own space and at your own time.
Simply put, I was determined to organize my system into a workable format where anyone committed to overcoming their anxiety could be assured of success with the least expenditure of time, money, and effort.
Let me hasten to say, however, that this is not magic. It’s not voodoo. It absolutely will not work if you don’t follow the system as designed.
But all you have to bring to the table is a commitment to work through the program as it has been laid out. It does require determination and effort.
You provide that . . . and you will get your life back. You will be able to sleep at night. You will experience a new-found confidence and courage. You will enjoy freedom from the stress, worry, and fear that has robbed you of so much.
All because you chose to listen to your heart and your good mind and say “yes” to the rest of your life!
We’re all faced with situations on a regular basis that cause us to feel anxiety’s grip on our mind.
But when that happens to me, I simply do what I know works. I simply do what I teach you in this program. I take charge, stand up to the bully, and back it down.
And this is exactly what you will be able to do — just as quickly and just as easily — once you know how.
Employing this simple method that I teach you here will put you back in control, allowing you to prove to yourself that you are bigger than the anxiety.
But I must tell you, as confident as I am in this program, it is not enough alone. As I said earlier, you must provide one critical element: the personal determination to beat this intruder.
After all, you can’t just say “SHOO!” to a bully and watch in delight as the bully tucks tail and runs away.
